Appointees to Chad Africa

We need to once again apologize for the time that has passed since our last post.  We have been busy this past spring and summer with preparations for getting to the field.

In March of this year we attended CORE Training at Encompass World Partners in Atlanta, GA.  This was our first step after acceptance as appointees to missions.  CORE training gave us the history of the Grace Brethren church, Encompass World Partners (formerly GBIM or Grace Brethren International Missions), and the Grace Brethren Fellowship.  We became very familiar with the organization with which we are now a part.

We have begun seeking financial partners who have a heart for this area of the world and for taking the gospel to the unreached in Africa.  This has been a time of seeing His hand at work and seeing the body of Christ stepping forward in amazing ways.  It is great to see those who He has placed on our team to hold us up in prayer, those who are our financial supporters and those who have stood by us for encouragement.

We have recently attended 5 weeks of intensive training at Encompass called Engage 5.  This training covered topics like how to look at and accept cultural differences and evaluate them based on scripture instead of our own cultural lenses, teamwork, knowing who we are in Christ, personal devotional times and rest, evangelism and discipleship training.  We had a great class, wonderful teachers and amazing opportunities to practice what we were learning by going out into the international area of NE Atlanta.  This area has a large refugee population from around the world with more than 150 countries represented within a 5 mile radius.  It was often hard to remember that we were still in the States.

September 14th, we will travel to CIT (Center for Intercultural Training) in NC for 6 more weeks of training.  We will be back for November and December, giving us much needed time with our families through the holidays before leaving the first of January for a year of language studies in Albertville, France.

We are still working on getting the last 20-25% of our funding together.  If you are interested in seeing how you can partner with us, check out the following video.
